Aranyaprathet, the easternmost district in Sa Kaew province will be hosting the 14th Cantaloup Fair from April 6 to 14. The venue is the shopping centre next to Aranyaprathet Railway Station. You can expect to taste Thailand's most delicious cantaloups plus a variety from Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. In addition, there will be traditional performances and even a Cantaloup 'Somtam' competition. Chiang Mai’s San Kampaeng district will show off its cultural know-how during a series of street fairs, “San Kampaeng: Land of Arts and Craftsmanship”, every Saturday until February 21. This is an amusing, down-home sort of outing, with different themes each week and some fine artisans putting on demonstrations in front of the district office, opposite YMCA Crafts. Today is “Charms of Painted Paper Parasols”. Next Saturday it’s “Basketry and Wood Carving Delights”; on January 31, “Saa Papers for Love”; February 7 “Land of Cotton”; February 14 “Sankampaeng Lady Pageant”; and February 21 a fashion show.
